BIOLOGY

In 21th century, department of biology has an important place in every stage of research and development activities. The students who graduate from our department are honored with the title of Biologist. Biologists can work at Science, Medicine, Agriculture, Pharmacy and Veterinary Faculties of the Universities, they can find job at Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Urbanization (at the molecular biology labs of hospitals, at the analysis labs, at research and development labs which produce labs supplies). The students who graduate from our department can also work as researcher at food industry, at the foundations that serve as environment consultancy, at the foundations and the establishments that belong to Ministry of Health and at government agencies like TUBITAK and also at medicine industry. Besides these, the students who graduate from Biology Department can work as Biology teacher at the schools that bound to Ministry of Education and at private colleges and also at private teaching institutions. The students who graduate from Biology Department can be appointed as academic staff to universities on condition that they provide necessary conditions.       

GEOGRAPHY

The foundation of department of Geography at Erzincan University was approved according to 7/d-2 alternative item of 2880 numbered law of 2547 numbered law at the meeting of the higher education council which was held on 10,18,2007 in accordance with offer of Erzincan University Presidency. The Geography Department at Science and Letters Faculty of Erzincan University continues its studies without students under the responsibility of one assistant professor and two researchers. Geography, which is an important guide at people`s journey to discover nature, has begun with the creation of our planet where the life grows. Geography helps us to understand how the world has changed with the effect of billions of people and the other creatures and the unending natural cycle throughout the million years. Geography tells us the world that changes and will always change forever. All members of a life that cannot be maintained without the rules of nature; from climate to morphology, from population to tourism, from transportation to geopolitics, from health to settlement; almost all living forms; water, animals, plants and earth are in the study fields of Geography. As the Geography Department at Science and Letters Faculty of Erzincan University, we are a science community that focuses on working for geography science with idealistic opinions and aims to educate geographers who are supposed to work with these idealistic opinions. We are the close followers of all geographic studies done so far and here to be the pioneer of the studies on geography which will be done henceforth with young staff of our young university.

PYHSICS

The department of Physics was founded at Science and Letters Faculty of Erzincan University according to 7/d-2 alternative item of 2880 numbered law of 2547 numbered law at the meeting of the higher education council which was held 10,18,2007 and the department accepted its first students in 2009-2010 education terms.

Physics Department includes atom and molecule physics, solid state physics and general physics departments. Eight academic members and four researchers work at this department.  The aim of the department is to teach the fundamental concepts of physics to the students and to show how several concepts and hypothesis are produced from experimental studies and to make students win research capabilities. Besides these fundamental physics courses, students take some practical courses such as electronics, computer programming, practical modern physics etc. 

It is aimed at Physics Department that fundamental and practical courses are taught and research and development studies are done. Physicists, who have enough labs experience and are well equipped on knowledge to contribute something to research, development and technology production, are aimed to be educated. The students who graduate from Physics Department after having this knowledge can have job opportunities at universities and research institutions and at several industry fields. They can find jobs especially at quality control applications and computer programming fields.  Besides these, the students who graduate from Physics Department can work as Physics teacher at the schools that bound to Ministry of Education and at private colleges and also at private teaching institutions.

CHEMISTRY

The department of Chemistry was founded at Science and Letters Faculty of Erzincan University according to 7/d-2 alternative item of 2880 numbered law of 2547 numbered law at the meeting of the higher education council which was held 10,18,2007 and the department accepted its first students in 2009-2010 education terms.  The Department of Chemistry opened its evening school program in 2011-2012 education terms and our department has continued education, research and development studies actively with seven academic members and five researchers so far.

The mission of our Department is to educate undergraduate students who can contribute some brand-new things to the changing and technology centered world of 21^st century, who can research and question, who is participant and dynamic, who can appreciate cultural values and think globally and have wide range of knowledge on chemistry and use this knowledge in daily life, our department also wants our students to be responsible individuals who make a point of servicing to the country successfully to develop science and technology  and try to make country and local areas an advanced places. Physics Department at Science and Letters Faculty of Erzincan University is ready to educate such students with its staffs who are perfectly equipped with the necessary knowledge, experience and background. The other mission of our department is to raise professional and specialized alumnis and academicians with post graduate and PhD programs.   

The mission of our department is to make scientific research under the light of ethical principals at international levels by working for country`s and the region`s economic, intellectual, cultural, industrial and technological developments with discovery of knowledge and development.

The vision of our department is to make research at international levels by increasing the department`s education quality at international standards and to educate undergraduates and alumnis who are respectful to society and environment for the future of the country, well- informed, productive, who have the ability of expressing their knowledge, who always develop critical thinking skills, who are always conscious about economic advantages of the actions, who are skillful on five disciplines of chemistry and other scientific fields linked to chemistry and lastly who are equipped for the world around them under the guidance of the department`s staffs who are perfectly equipped with the necessary knowledge, experience and background of 21^st century.

The education lasts 4 years at our department and the students who graduate from this department are honored with the title of CHEMIST.

MATHEMATIC

Mathematic Department is one of the first founded departments of Science and Letters Faculty, the department was established in 2004. The Department gives education both in day time and evening time. The students who complete their educations at Mathematic Department of Science and Letters Faculty are honored with the title of Mathematician. Our Department`s alumnis have wide range of job opportunities both at government institutions and at private sector.

By considering that the usage area of Mathematic spreads geometrically, Mathematic updates itself according to its everlasting necessities. It is a fact that Mathematic is the main science of many disciplines or the sciences especially on advanced engineering fields; physics, chemistry, environment, space, bioinformatics, finance, economy, medicine sector and even sociology which look irrelevant to each other at first sight.

Several courses are given on Topology, Algebraic and Numbers Theory, Geometry, Practical Mathematic, Functions Theory, Analysis, The fundamental of Mathematic, Mathematic Logic. As we think, computers are the crucial devices of our time and needed in every field, introduction to computer and computer programming courses are given to the students.

HISTORY

The Department of History was founded in 2007 at Science and Letters Faculty. Our department started its education life in 2011-2012 education terms by accepting 80 students both to day time program and evening time programs. The students who register to our department have to take 152 credits to graduate by taking elective courses beside compulsory courses. The conditions are same for both day time program students and evening time program students. The department lasts 4 years and the students who graduate from History Department are honored with the title of Historian and they take history undergraduate diploma.

The aim of the department is to teach historical events that affected people beginning with the ancient history by considering them with economy, religion and art. Among history department programs, General Turkish History and The History of Turkish Republic and the other disciplines around these disciplines and the cultures have a private place. In this frame, source documents that make history a science and the sciences such as Geography, Economics, Law, Sociology and Philosophy that helps historians to have analysis skills on past events are taught to the students.

The students who graduate from History department can find job with the title of Historians as expert or translator at Ministry of Culture, at Public records of Prime ministry, at Turkish Grand National Assembly Library, at State Statistics Institute, at Military history and strategic studies of General Staff, at Turkish History Foundation, at Ataturk Research Institute and so many other foundations.  They also have the opportunity of being researcher, expert and lecturer at universities besides having post graduate and PhD educations. And also the students who take pedagogy education can work as Social Science and History teachers at state and private schools and at private teaching institutions.

TURKISH LANGUAGE AND THE LITERATURE

Science and Letters Faculty which our department belongs to was founded as a faculty linked to Ataturk University with 03/5867 numbered decision of council of ministers that was published at official journal with 25179 numbered in 07,16,2003. Mathematic and Turkish Language and Literature departments were decided to be opened at Erzincan Science and Letters Faculty of Ataturk University at the meeting of higher education council that was held on 09,28,2004. The departments started to accept students firstly in 2004-2005 years via additional placement.

After Erzincan University had become an independent university o 03,01,2006, our faculty was named as Erzincan University Science and Letters Faculty.

Undergraduate education has been given in our department since 2004 and first alumnis graduated in 2007-2008 education terms. In 2007-2008 education years, post graduate programs have started and these programs still go on.

In 2009 2010 education terms, the capacity of students was increased by higher education council and we were allowed to accept students to evening programs.

The faculty library which has been flourished over the years can respond the needs of the students.

At least 3 symposiums are to given in every semester by the academic staff; all kinds of social and cultural activities of department students are supported by academic staff and necessary consultancy are presented to the students.

The reports of the conferences, seminars and the symposiums that academic staffs attend are given to the students and all department staff so we try to make them benefit all these things. 

The journals “Dilden Dile” which the students of the department publish and the journal of academic staff “Turkish Studies” which is searched by the international indexes on electronic context where it is published continue their publishing activities.
